A123 Systems, LLC, (usually referred to as A123 Battery) established in 2001, was a pioneer of advanced lithium-ion battery technology Nanophosphate. A123 Battery started recalling the defective battery packs in early 2012, and filed for bankruptcy protection later that year. In early 2013, Wanxiang Group's Chicago-based subsidiary, Wanxiang America, purchased the preponderance of A123 Battery's assets out of bankruptcy and restructured a new company A123Systems, LLC.

At the core of A123's products are lithium-ion battery cells, which are produced using advanced Lithium iron Phosphate(LiFePO4) chemistry. These lithium ion cells, especially A123 Pouch Cells, like A123 20Ah Pouch Cells, are known for excellent cycle life, better low-temp. performance, and improved LFP chemistry safety. This makes the pouch cells ideal for motorcycle, power tool or even in military project. While A123 Cylindrical Cells are manufactured with high power, high pulse discharge current, high energy efficiency and superior cycle life. A123 26650 LFP Cells are used in various applications, such as electric tools, start-up battery, motorcycles, etc.
